About Me

Why Travel?

At one point in your life you will feel exhausted, bored and tired of your routinary life. When that day comes, just step out of your comfort box, move away from your usual self and see your life from different perspectives. Travel! Head out to the endless horizon and discover the world, go places and meet new faces, explore to understand new cultures, get lost to find yourself. In the end you will realize that traveling is not only about learning new cultures or meeting new friends or discovering new places, it also lets us discover our own culture, our limits, ourselves. It is a personal journey to self-discovery, because after all, it is only from the outside that we can look back in.

The photos and descriptions/stories you’ve posted are very encouraging and spikes my excitement to pack my bag and travel again. Somehow i’ve just visited four out of many places you’ve mentioned because of workload and graduate studies. 19. I explored Sohotan Lakes and Siargao/Dinagat in 1995. ThatsamenyearI started sea kayaking on Coron Island. My concept with Natural history By Sea Kayak Since 1983 is to help local people develop their own enconomy. I am also Ecotourism Advisor and Developer for IUCN Thailand-Philippines. I’m taking some old friends from Hawai’i to Coron and I was then thinking of visiting Sohotan to see how it is progressing. I cecked out the two resports on Trip Advisor but also noted three local commnty projects that I would probably prefer supporting. However, I must also take care of my friends in a good way.

Can you give me a read on how Sohotan is doing now, and if its goingnto be agreeable with my friends. They are easy going but affluent. What do the three community associationsn provide? Do they have kayaks?

    Hi dear!

I have browsed thru your blogs and like you i too love traveling! The world has so much to offer indeed! 😉 I have also learned that your blog, and evidently has been such a great influence in promoting not just places but our country, Philippines as well!

Hence, i would like to tap you if it’s not too much to help us promote the FDCP Dubbed All-Masters Edition gathering country’s most accomplished film directors – with respective bodies of work that have spanned decades to substantially form part of Philippine cinema heritage. The festival promises to be the biggest and most distinguished motion picture event of the year. A grand reception to formally kick off Sineng Pambansa National Film Festival 2013 is slated on September 7 at the Atrium of SM Mall of Asia. Full selection of festival films will screen exclusively at SM cinemas in over 45 SM malls nationwide from September 11 to 17.

During the red-carpet presentation of directors and films last Saturday, where each director used respective provinces as the backdrop for their films, highlighting the beautiful vistas as well as real urban settings to be found around the country, as each teem with life and come with stories to tell — noticeably few of my favorites which apparently were the most applauded during the FDCP Masters Edition yesterday were the following:

*Isang Tag-araw ni Twinkle by Gil M. Portes with brilliant actors Cris Villanueva and Arnold Cruz Reyes , Pinky Amador, Rina Reyes & Ellen Adarna.
Synopsis: The rebellious Twinkle Marie’s life is about to get turned on its head due to a visit from an, unbeknownst to her, biological father with secrets to share. Entering into a tailspin of drugs, sickness, and lies forces her to reevaluate and asses things, then ultimately deciding on what’s truly important. Trailers from my chosen films: Tag-Araw sa Buhay ni Twinkle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43Mv-dJe2Xg&feature=player_embedded

If anything, the performances of the lead cast can’t be ignored. Reyes and Villanueva come close to stealing the film for their mature take on their contrasting roles. — Manila Bulletin Entertainment / Nestor Cuartero

I agree! The effort that these actors put on this film cannot just be ignored! Cris Villanueva needed to stop going to gym to get that late 60ish flabby look of a retired general and lose all the muscle cuts from his normal toned body; while Arnold Cruz Reyes needed to shed off 20lbs to look like a terminally ill NPA. At the end of the day, these brilliant actors both did all these due to their high respect and love to their crafts, FDCP and Gil Portes!

Pls read more about this MUST SEE movie:http://www2.mb.com.ph/twinkle-twinkle-sineng-pambansa/

*Lihis by Joel Lamangan with controversial actors Jake Cuenca, Lovi Poe, Joem Bascon.
Synopsis: Set in the 70’s during the darkest hours of Philippine History, we follow the story of two young NPA warriors who find themselves entangled in a web of frustration, despair and victory as they fight not only for democracy but also their love for each other.
    “Lihis” by Joel Lamanganhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COxdbaly8qk&feature=player_embedded

*Ano Ang Kulay ng mga Nakalimutang Pangarap by Jose Javier Reyes with leads Rustica Carpio, Angel Aquino, Ryan Agoncillo, and Bobby Andrews
Synopsis: Concerned with themes of loyalty, old age, mortality and memories, the film traces the life of Teresa, a nanny who has dedicated sixty years of service to a middle class family at the expense of her own happiness and fulfillment. Though upon the death of the family patriarch, Teresa’s fate is now up in the air as the family decides what sort of future is to come.
“Ano Ang Kulay ng mga Nakalimutang Pangarap?” by Joey Javier Reyes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XazGT-PsrZc&feature=player_embedded

** In addition to the master directors’ entries comprising the main slate for this year’s Sineng Pambansa festival are a number of special features. A masters’ master tribute seeks to honor the memory of Celso Ad Castillo with the showcase of the last film he directed, Bahay ng Lagim. Taking place in a convent, we follow the story of Sister Sofia whose life takes a grave turn upon the arrival of, the troubled and haunted, Fatima. The documentary, The Gospel According to the Kid, will also be shown, which brings us into the life of Celso Ad. Castillo himself and his works.

Indeed it shall be a fun week ahead for all of us. This week reward yourselves with great movies. You may read more about the other featured of the masters at http://www.fdcp.ph/contents/news?id=Sineng+Pambansa+NFF+2013+%22All-Masters+Edition%22

PS>> I do not work for FDCP nor a producer of any of the films; i am simply a believer of this FDCP project and any assistance on promoting this event may help the Film industry in our country to produce more films our children and our children’s children to watch 😉 Thank you in advance and i wish to soon read your write up about this event on your blog! God bless!

    1. Lakwatsero

Thanks Tina for this! The film lineup looks good and exciting! Will definitely share this to my readers!
