Snapshot: Biking for Cordillera

Globe Cordillera Challenge 4

Tublay, Benguet

More than four hundred bikers across the Philippines converged in Tublay, Benguet on May 4, 2013, for one of the most anticipated biking events of the year – the Globe Cordillera Challenge 4.

Organized by Globe Telecoms and Cordillera Conservation Trust, Globe Cordillera Challenge is an advocacy ride that aims to raise awareness for the need to protect and rebuild the mountains of Cordillera with a challenge to recreational bikers to race for the environment. This year, they are aiming to build 30 forest nurseries in the mountain range.

For the love of Cordillera and mountain biking, I heed the call of Globe Cordillera Challenge. It was a tough ride with the challenging trails and scorching heat of the sun. But with the amazing scenery, the contagious fighting spirits of my co-forest builders and the thought of doing it for a cause, the challenge was all worth it.

After seven hours, two “semplangs” and endless cursing, I was a proud finisher of the 65-kilometer epic Globe Cordillera Challenge 4.

Here is one of the photos that I took that best describes the event – rough trail, sunny weather and happy bikers 🙂

For Mama Cordillera!
